Youth Jobs+ Resource Fair

The school district, in collaboration with the Mayor's Office and City and County agencies, welcomes you to attend the Youth Jobs+ Resource Fair. The Fair is available to 16-24 year olds who are looking for a summer job or internship. At the Fair, students will have an opportunity to learn about summer internship programs, and apply to programs on the spot.

SFUSD Summer Internship Program

The Career Technical Education office coordinates the Summer Internship Program for current SFUSD sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This is your opportunity to expand your knowledge outside of the classroom. Summer internships are the perfect opportunity for you to explore potential careers, gain valuable job experiece and learn about yourself. 

As a student Intern, you will: 

  • Work alongside industry mentors and explore careers within the company.
  • Examples of career sectors include: Architecture, Automotive, Business Finance, Building and Construction, Marketing, Hospitality, Law, Media Arts, Entertainment, Computer Science, Engineering, and much more.
  • Develop skills that will make you successful in college and your career
  • Network with professionals and peers.
  • Get PAID for working 16-20 hours per week. 

Interested students can apply to the CTE Summer Internship Program. The student application will be available starting March 8, 2017 and must be completed online. In order to prepare for the online application, you can download essay draft sheet as you will not be able to save your application once you start. Applications are due Friday, April 14, 2017 by 5:00 p.m. PST.

SFUSD Summer Career Exploration Programs

The Career Technical Education office coordinates the Summer Career Exploration Programs for current SFUSD sophomores and juniors. Students who are interested in exploring careers related to the automotive technology and building and construction trades industries can explore careers through a combination of classroom learning and worksite visits. Students that participate in the program will:

  • Gain work experience through worksite rotations
  • Work with industry mentors and use what they learn in real world projects
  • Design and develop work projects related to your summer program
  • Build your resume and professional network
  • Earn a $1,000 financial compensation upon completion of the program

SFUSD + CCSF Summer Institute for Tomorrow's Educators

SFUSD in collaboration with CCSF have partnered together to provide Summer Institute for Tomorrow's Educators. This opportunity is for current sophomores and juniors. Participates must be at least 16 years old by May 30, 2017. Students will attend classes at CCSF, receive credit for class completion, and getpaid 120 hours working with children in San Francisco summer youth programs. Interested students can apply to the Summer Institute for Tomorrow's Educators. 

Youth Worker Institute Summer Program

SFUSD will be looking for HUNDREDS of Youth Workers for the 2017-18 school year! Do you want a meaningful part-time job while going to college​? with possibility of higher hourly rates? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! The SFUSD-CCSF Youth Worker Institute​ will provide paid on-the-job training and City College San Francisco units at no cost to you. You will attend classes at CCSF, complete paid 65 hours working with children in San Francisco summer youth programs, and participate in high school credit recovery.

 

Productive Summer Experiences

This year, CTE updated the 2017 Productive Summer Guide, which is a comprehensive list of opportunities available for high school students. The list is organized by the type of summer opportunity, including paid summer internships, college classes, and/or industry related academic and enrichment programs.

Additional Summer Internship Opportunities

TO APPLY: Complete and submit the online application form once it is available. You will receive a confirmation email containing a PDF file of your completed application. PRINT out your application and HAND DELIVER: (1) a hard copy of your application; (2) completed Teacher Recommendation form; (3) student essay; and (4) portfolio (if required) to the main office at Asawa SOTA, 555 Portola Drive, schooldays from 8 am - 3 pm, STARTINGWednesday, November 8, 2017. To receive an audition date, you must hand deliver the application materials before the published deadlines. WE NO LONGER ACCEPT DOCUMENTS SENT VIA EMAIL, REGULAR USPS MAIL, or through any other commercial transportation method.

IMPORTANT: Students must also submit an application to the SFUSD, available online here, at any public school in the district, or at the SFUSD offices, 555 Franklin, San Francisco.

RE-APPLYING: If you have already applied and would like to re-apply either to the same discipline, or a different discipline, please do NOT submit another application. Contact admissions@sfsota.org before the published deadlines for scheduling a new date.
